Thirty Seconds to Mars

The band, Thirty Seconds to Mars, was created in in 1998 by two American brothers named Shannon Leto, and Jared Leto. As the group grew in fame, they recruited other musicians including the following:

  • Tomo Miličević
  • Solon Bixler
  • Matt Wachter

They are known for their energetic performances, as well as, their ability to combine a number of genres. Before fame, the group performed in clubs and other small venues which led them to release a number of demo tracks like “Revolution” and “Jupiter”.

In 2002, the band, with help from musicians like Brian Virtue and Bob Ezrin, released their first self-titled album. The performance of the album helped them to attract lots of interest from a number of recording labels including Virgin Records. By the end of 2018, the group had released a total of five studio albums, including “A Beautiful Lie”.

They embarked on their first headlining music tour in 2006 which was dubbed “Forever Night, Never Day Tour”. Since then, they’ve organized numerous tours like “Into the Wild Tour” and “Carnivores Tour”.

Feud with Record Label

In 2008, the band had a legal issue with their then record label, EMI, after the latter claimed that the group had gone against their contract agreement. During the production of their third album which was named “This Is War”, the band decided to work with Steve Lillywhite, and Mark Ellis, also known as Flood.

It is with this that the record label filed a lawsuit against the band for failing to record a total of five records with them. In the lawsuit, EMI, demanded $30 million for a breach in contract. After almost a year, the suit was settled with the two parties renewing their contract.

Other Interesting Facts about Thirty Seconds to Mars

Thirty Seconds to Mars have been involved in a number of philanthropic works. In 2008, they teamed up with the non-profit organization called Habitat for Humanity to renovate and repair houses in the Greater Los Angeles Area during a program labelled “A Brush With Kindness”. They have also created an online platform known as abeautifullie.org/line which is aimed at educating people about the environment. They also donated a total over $100,000 to support victims of the Haiti earthquake in 2010.

Throughout its years of existence, the band has been recognized with a number of awards such as ‘MTV Awards’, ‘CMA Awards’, and ‘Kerrang! Awards’.
