“Bad Guy” by Billie Eilish & Justin Bieber

“Bad Guy” is actually the remix of a track by the same name which Billie Eilish originally dropped a few months back. On the original version of the song the title was actually a play on words, as even though Eilish was in a relationship with an abusive partner, she let the world know that she was actually the “bad guy”, as in she can out-evil him if she so desired. Likewise she expresses a similar sentiment in this song. Though this time around the Biebs plays the role of her lover and has his own say on the matter, which is lyrically the main new element to this song.

But honestly speaking, Justin Bieber does not really come off as a “bad guy”.  Yes he has “tattoos on both… sleeves”, alluding to the fact that dude has over 50 designs engraved on his body in real life. And he presents himself as somewhat of an iced-out loose cannon. But all things considered, he does not sound like the same wannabe macho A-hole Billie sings about on the first version of this song.

Perhaps Justin was concerned that coming off too hard on this track would tarnish his already-rowdy image. Indeed during his chorus, he states that he ‘always has her back’, which is not necessarily a profession of bada–ery (unless maybe she has some real dangerous enemies). So ultimately, just like in the first version of this song, Billie comes off looking like more of a “bad guy” than the lover she is singing about (or to in this case).

Release Date of “Bad Guy”

Interscope Records in collaboration with Darkroom Records dropped this version of “Bad Guy” on 11 July 2019.

It is actually a remix of Billie Eilish’s “Bad Guy”, which was originally released in March of 2019 as part of her critically acclaimed album When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go? As of the release of this remix, the original version of the song sat at number 2 on the Billboard Hot 100.

Eilish is a true Belieber

Billie Eilish, a true fan of Justin Bieber, proved so by posting an old pic of herself with a bunch of JB posters in the background on Instagram  to announce the release of this track.

Bieber responded to this post by stating that he is “so proud of” Billie Eilish. He also vaguely teased the release of the song on 8 July 2019, a couple of days before it was officially dropped.

First time Bieber and Billie are working together

It’s noteworthy to mention that Billie first met  Bieber at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival on 15 April 2019. This song marks the first time they have made a track together.

However, it appears that they may have been in contact with each other since as far back as 2014.
