“Call You Mine” by The Chainsmokers (ft. Bebe Rexha)
The premise of this track is an established romance between “two kids”, who are the singer and her partner, the addressee of the song. They met each other as “broke kids running through the city” but experienced solace via each other’s love. And their relationship excelled from there.
But now it has apparently reached its zenith, and ‘things are starting to look down’. And the loving bond that existed between them before has been replaced with a feeling of unfamiliarity.
Logically this is indicative of the relationship coming to an end. However, Bebe wants to put out that fire before it even starts burning. So she is asking her lover to question the consequences of them breaking up before it even gets to that point. Is she someone he can actually “live without”?
But as for Rexha, she has already made her decision. She still wants to be able to call this person her boo. Indeed what she really desires is to bring their relationship back to the old days, where not only were things cooler between them, but they were also more committed to each other.
So the chorus basically features her reminding him of the time they first committed to each other. And the track concludes with her questioning whether or not she can still ‘call him hers’, as in if the romance is still active.

The Chainsmokers teased the release of this track on both Twitter and Instagram on 28 May 2019.
Later on Twitter (30 May 2019), The Chainsmokers briefly recounted their six-year history with Bebe Rexha.
However, this is the first time The Chainsmokers and Bebe Rexha straight-up collaborated, though they did remix one of her tracks, “I Can’t Stop Drinking About You”, in 2014.
Disruptor Records and Columbia Records released “Call You Mine” on 31 May 2019. It came out as the fourth single from The Chainsmokers’ third album, World War Joy.
The music video for this track moves backwards in time and features Bebe Rexha murdering The Chainsmokers through the means of poison.
Who wrote “Call You Mine”?
The Chainsmokers (Alex Pall and Andrew Taggart) wrote this track along with Tony Ann, Ali Tamposi, Steve Mac, Norman Whitfield and the song’s producer, Watt. Rexha doesn’t receive writing credits.
