“Coffee” by Beabadoobee
Beabadoobee’s “Coffee” is both simple and complex at the same time. That is to say that despite its terse and uncomplicated lyrics, some of the audience have found it challenging ascertaining the meaning behind the lyrics. But as Beabadoobee puts it, the interpretation of the wording is pretty much as presented. The addressee would be her romantic interest, in fact her actual boyfriend who himself possesses green eyes. And according to her own words, this song is simply about her “making coffee for him”.
Perhaps the part that throws some people off is in the first verse in which the singer starts to talk about her own less-than-ideal mental disposition. However, her doing so is not meant to distract from the overall sentiment being relayed, which is her affection for her significant other. Indeed one adjective Beabadoobee used to describe this song is “cringiest”. And it is very likely it was those particular passages she was referring to in that regard, where she deviates from the general storyline of affectionate coffee making to point out that she is feeling a bit blue. But conclusively, “Coffee” is in fact a love song.

So it played at my Spotify, I wondered what story behind it’s lyrics. So, I search here, while I’m reading the word green eyes, I also suddenly heard it from the song at the same time. Such a meaningful, sweet song but, simple.
I for real thought it was about a person dying and bea pleading for that person to “stay awake”/alive
