“Ice Cream” by BLACKPINK & Selena Gomez

As the title of this song implies (“Ice Cream”), its shtick is based on the singers making numerous metaphorical references to ice cream. So we can have Blackpink’s Jennie for instance stating that she “keeps it icy” (i.e. an allusion to jewelry), or her bandmate, Rosé, exclaiming that the addressee (i.e. her romantic interest) “look so sweet”. Indeed by and large, the lyrics read like an exchange between two lovers, as in the girls singing to their boyfriends. And at certain junctures, the wording can even be logically interpreted, especially from a Western perspective, as being sensual in nature.
