The situation however changes whenever the lights are turned on and the fear that grips the heart disappears in an instant. She explains that the fear she experiences from sleeping in darkness is so strong that she actually freezes as hard as stone. Apparently she can only be comforted when there is someone special around, or simply when the lights are turned back on. The lights may also symbolically refer to something that makes her feel more at home, comfortable and open.
