Lil Peep really did hate where he grew up

While he was alive, Peep said on multiple occasions how much he hated the community he grew up in. According to him, he always felt like an outsider growing up in the city of Long Beach. His animosity for his hometown and its inhabitants compelled him to relocate to Los Angeles at the age of 17.

During Peep’s memorial service in 2017, his mother Liza Womack shed some light on the reason he didn’t like growing up in Long Beach. According to her, Peep hated the rich of Long Beach looked down on and discriminated against the poor – especially those from the projects.

In the song’s second verse, Peep talks about wanting to fly back to his hometown (where he feels everybody hates him). One of his sole reasons for flying down there is so he can tell the rich kids to look at him now. He apparently wants to let them know he’s made it. Now they can never look down on him like they did in the past. In addition to wanting to flaunt his success in front of these rich kids, he also harbors a very sinister plan. He wants to set his old high school ablaze. Such is the shocking level of hatred he has towards his old school.

It is important to note that Peep attended Long Beach High School. He dropped out of the school despite having very good grades. It is obvious his hatred for the school and town was what motivated him to take that decision.
