Meaning of “Jocelyn Flores” by XXXTentacion

“Jocelyn Flores” is a song performed by the late American rapper XXXTentacion. The lyrics of the song pay tribute to a woman named Jocelyn Flores who committed suicide in 2017. The rapper also uses the song to talk about his struggles with the passing of Flores and how her death has made him suicidal.

Jocelyn was a model, a fan and friend of XXXTentacion. In May 2017, she tragically committed suicide in a Florida hotel room while paying X a visit. It was later revealed that the model had been battling with severe depression prior to taking her own life.

A few months before the release of the track (in the wake of the suicide), X talked about Jocelyn’s tragic death on Instagram. According to him, the young model’s death was a “devastating situation” to cope with and that it “f****d” him up so badly.

In addition to speaking about the passing of Jocelyn on his Instagram broadcast, X also used that opportunity to offer condolences to the girl’s family.

FYI:  XXXTentacion also dedicated his single “Revenge” to Jocelyn few days after she died. The single’s cover art is a picture of the suicide note Flores left behind.

Less than a year after the release of the track, on 18th June, 2018, XXXTentacion himself was tragically killed after being shot by two assailants in Deerfield Beach, Florida. He was only 20 years old.

Who was Jocelyn Flores?

Aside the fact that Jocelyn was a model and a fan and friend of XXXTentacion, not much is known about her. There have also been rumors that the model was in a brief romantic relationship with X and that she took her own life as a result of relationship problems with X.  X never confirmed or denied these rumors.

That said, it is noteworthy that Jocelyn, who had been flown to Florida for a photoshoot, had been staying with X in Florida at the time of her tragic suicide.
