Lauren got the inspiration for this song’s lyrics from the Greek goddess called Aphrodite. According to ancient Greek mythology, Aphrodite is the goddess of a host of things ranging from love to pleasure to beauty.
On Instagram Live, Lauren revealed Aphrodite was her “goddess of inspiration” during the creation of this song.
In addition to that, the song’s cover art was also directly inspired by the famous painting called The Birth of Venus created by Italian painter Sandro Botticelli in the 1480s. This 1480s painting depicts the birth of the Roman goddess Venus. In Roman mythology, Venus is regarded as the goddess of such things as beauty, love and desire.

- “More Than That” is a self-penned song since Lauren Jauregui composed it herself. According to Lauren, she wrote this song somewhere in the region of 2 – 3 years prior to its release. She revealed this on Instagram.
- On this song, Lauren worked with two noted music producers Murda Beatz and Charlie Handsome. She even gives a shoutout to Murda Beatz in the song’s intro.
- Having teased this song on social media for a while, on Friday, January 11, 2019, “More Than That” was finally released.
- This is Lauren’s second single as a solo artist. It is also the first single she released in 2019. FYI – The song “Expectations“, which came out in October 2018, was Lauren’s debut solo single.
