This is despite that fact that he too has an interest in her, even going as far as to try to spark conversations, only to have homegirl run away at the sound of his voice. So Tate finds herself fantasizing about “one day” where the girl will muster the courage to finally claim this guy who likewise wants to get with her.

This is the song which launched Tate McRae’s – who up until that point was known primarily for her exceptional dancing skills – music career. It was released on 20 October 2017, as recorded in the young lady’s bedroom. And to make a long story short, the tune proved popular enough that it led to her signing a contract with one of the top labels in the game, RCA Records. And the track went on to be certified gold in McRae’s homeland of Canada.
Tate authored and produced “One Day” herself. And for the record, she wrote the song while she was only 14 years of age (which would have also been her age at the time of its release).
Actually this hit holds the unique distinction of being the first song Tate McRae released as a professional singer.

According to Tate, she composed the song in a span of just an hour. In a YouTube video she published in October 2017, the young singer revealed that the song is purely about “love”. However, she was quick to point out that it isn’t autobiographical.

At the time of its release, it was not accompanied with any album or project. However, the immense success of the song propelled her into international stardom. This EP, which was officially released in 2020, contains just five tracks. “One Day” doesn’t appear on the EP.
