“P.I.M.P.” by 50 Cent

As you’re likely aware, the title of this song spells out the word “pimp”. And this is the type of character which 50 Cent is presenting himself as in the lyrics. And for the most part that means that he economically exploits women who tend to use their bodies in a sensual manner in the name of generating income. So for instance whereas other guys may “trick”, i.e. spend money to impress them, he is more preoccupied with encouraging them to use their aforementioned skillset to rather bring him money. And whereas he does present himself as being rich (as the chorus blatantly points out), he does not believe in actually giving money to women.

So conclusively, Fiddy wants the world to know that he is a pimp in the truest sense. He knows that women are attracted to his wealth and his style. And as the second verse points out, he also knows how to show them a good time and treat them well emotionally. But at the end of the day, it can be said that he has limited respect for them.  Or more to the point, his acts of kindness are in the name of ultimately being able to exploit them sensually and financially.

50 and his team released “P.I.M.P.” as a single from his maiden album “Get Rich or Die Tryin'” on August 12th, 2003.

“P.I.M.P.” is one of the greatest songs from 50 Cent’s heyday, topping Billboard’s Hot Rap Tracks chart and overall charting in 20 countries, including the likes of Hungary and Romania and peaking at number 5 in the United Kingdom.

Additionally P.I.M.P. has received RIAA Gold certification in the United States.

50 Cent and co. were actually sued by an individual known as Dirty Bird for illegally sampling a song he created known as “BAMBA” onto “P.I.M.P.”. Eventually they did settle with him for an undisclosed amount. However, he tried to sue them again, which the judge threw out of court due to the fact that he had already been compensated.
