Written as a tribute to the late actor Paul Walker, the narrator sings first from his good friend Vin Diesel as well as the casting crew’s perspective, recollecting all the good and fun moments they shared together. The verse talks about how they experienced several thrills but never thought that their friend could die so early. Despite their pain however, they rest in the hope that Paul is in heaven, a better place, and they will meet him soon.

Wiz Khalifa, in the second verse raps from Paul’s perspective while commending the friendship and brotherhood the actor enjoyed with Vin Diesel both on and off set. The rapper then relates it to his own life where he understands that the bonds of brotherhood are extremely important and difficult to break even when death occurs.

Charlie Puth has said that the song was recorded on the first take, while he thought of what Vin Diesel’s character in Fast & Furious would tell Paul Walker when he died.
