“Soon You’ll Get Better” by Taylor Swift (ft. Dixie Chicks)

“Soon You’ll Get Better” is considered to be the most heart-wrenching and personal song, by both Taylor Swift and her fans, on Tay Tay’s 2019 album Lover. The song is about Taylor’s mom, Andrea Swift’s, battle with cancer, and the emotional toll this reality has had on the songstress.

The title of the song is based on the idea that Swift cannot help but to remain optimistic concerning the situation. She has no other choice but to be optimistic, for doing otherwise would be too much for her to bear emotionally.

So basically this is a composition of pain and faith. Taylor is hurting due to her mother’s deadly illness. And the associated trauma has forced Swift to once again believe in concepts which under normal circumstance she does not subscribe to, such as a reliance on “Jesus”.

And overall, this heart-wrenching song reads like a short narrative of this sad situation from both Andrea’s but primarily Taylor’s perspective. They are rightfully disturbed. However, at the same time they are also displaying an attitude of making the best of the given circumstances and hoping for a favorable outcome.

All in all, this is without a shred of doubt a truly touching, personal and hopeful song.
