Tina Turner was the true definition of a music legend. The late US-born singer was originally named Anna Mae Bullock. She was born in November 1939 in the state of Tennessee. In April 2013 she officially became a citizen of Switzerland, and then a few months later she relinquished her US citizenship.
Turner’s initial claim to stardom was through her performances as part of the Ike & Tina Turner duo, alongside her then-husband Ike Turner.
The Tennessee-born singer gained further fame as a solo artist. Her first individual project was “Tina Turns the Country On!”, which she released in 1974. Throughout her lifetime, she issued a total of ten studio albums, including her biggest hit “Private Dancer”. This project, which marked Turner’s fifth studio offering, peaked at #3 on US’ Billboard 200 chart. In addition, the album landed at #2 in the UK and topped album charts in various other regions including Canada.
