“Unity” by Alan Walker (ft. Walkers)

“Unity” is a song Alan Walker made with his die-hard fans, who collectively are known as “Walkers”.  And the theme of the track fits such a collaborative effort, as it centers on an emotional rapport the singer(s) have with the addressee. Put differently, he (the singer) “would walk a thousand miles” just to see this person.

Indeed in the chorus he describes the role this individual plays in his life with such colorful language as describing him or her as his “symphony”, “guiding light” and “energy”. Or perhaps the second verse describes their relationship better, as in when they operate as a unit, they are “brave” enough to face the myriad of challenges life throws their way. And what this all boils down to is that together, they “are unity”.

Like most of the lyrics used throughout this song, the concept of the singer and the addressee being “unity” is symbolic. “Unity” is a singular noun which we would use to classify one entity, not two or more. But that’s the whole point. Alan Walker and the Walkers – and on a broader scope any listener who may feel this way about another – are presenting themselves as a co-dependent unit. And as pointed out in the first paragraph, this reliance is actually mental/emotional. In other words, any person may relate this to another who they feel gives them strength and direction.
