Desiigner
Desiigner is an American rapper, songwriter, music producer and singer who rose to worldwide prominence with the release of his 2016 debut single Panda, which was a major hit in the United States and in numerous countries all over the world.

- Desiigner was born in Brooklyn, New York.
- He is the grandson of the American blues singer and guitarist Sidney Selby (best known by the nickname “Guitar Crusher”).
- Growing up, he sang in a choir, played the sax at school and was in a marching band.
- At the age of 14, he survived a gunshot injury. It was after being shot that he began focusing on a career in music.
- At the early stages of his career, he used the pseudonym Dezolo before changing it to Designer Royel. “Royel” is his real name. His sister later convinced him to take out “Royel” from his stage name and use only “Designer”, which was later changed to “Desiigner”.
- He made his American television debut at the 2016 BET Awards, where he performed his smash hit single Panda.
- In September 2016, he was arrested in New York City after police allegedly found weapons and drugs in an SUV in which he was a passenger with his friends. He and his friends were subsequently slapped with weapon and drug charges.
- When Desiigner’s Panda topped the US Billboard Hot 100, he was only 18 years and 11 months old, thereby making him the youngest musician to achieve that feat after singer Lorde achieved it a few years earlier at the age of 16 years and 11 months with her hit Royals.
- He is the first rapper since Iggy Azalea to reach the number one spot on the Billboard Charts. Iggy achieved that feat with her hit Fancy, whereas Desiigner did that with his hit Panda.
- Desiigner’s real name is Sidney Royel Selby III.
